Description

Does your child melt down when asked to share — especially with a brother or sister?

Received Readers' Favorite 5-Star Seal

This Cat Is Mine! is a heartwarming social-emotional learning story told in a magical fairytale style that encourages kids to understand that sharing spreads happiness and playing together is more rewarding than holding on too tight.

Johnny and Elvis are brothers who don’t like to share anything. Absolutely nothing. When a mysterious box arrives with one unusual cat inside, a big argument is guaranteed: Whose cat will it be? Johnny and Elvis will soon discover that when you refuse to share, you might just… lose it all.

This book will help your child:

  • Understand that sharing is spreading happiness — not losing
  • Feel empathy for what someone else wants
  • Practice turn-taking, teamwork and cooperation over rivalry
  • Handle the possessive “Mine!” moments with calmness and flexibility

This book is wonderful for:

  • Siblings who need encouragement to play as a team
  • Families and classrooms exploring kindness, empathy and sharing

Perfect for ages 3–8: bedtime, read-aloud time, and classrooms (SEL - social emotional learning)

"... fun and engaging and the illustrations make it even more amusing and funny."
The story is all about sharing and teamwork, and also touches on the topic of selfishness that sometimes exists between siblings. The author's approach to the subject is fun and engaging and the illustrations make it even more amusing and funny. I loved the format of the book; it is unique and different. It is a good bedtime storybook and parents can teach their children about sharing and getting rid of selfishness. The messages in the story make it perfect for read aloud and storytelling sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Lots of children in the classroom will find Johnny and Elvis real and relatable.
