Too Strong For Your Own Good
What if the very strength that helped you survive is now quietly keeping you from fully living?
Across cultures, we celebrate the people who hold everything together—the caregivers, parents, helpers and high achievers everyone depends on.
But what if qualities like self-sacrifice, relentless resilience, over-responsibility and always being the strong one aren't simply strengths?
What if they're unconscious survival patterns?
In Too Strong For Your Own Good, executive coach, award-winning author and six-time cancer survivor Anette DeMattio introduces the Too Strong Method, a transformational framework that helps readers recognize when the strength that once helped them survive begins quietly running their lives.
Rather than treating burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, emotional exhaustion and hyper-independence as separate problems, the book reveals how they can be different expressions of the same underlying survival adaptations.
Readers discover the Too Strong Survival Patterns and learn practical tools to evolve from Survival Strong to Soul Strong without sacrificing their ambition, purpose or success.
Blending memoir, psychology, nervous system awareness, body wisdom and transformational practices, the book offers a hopeful new way of understanding why so many capable people quietly lose themselves while appearing to have it all together.
At the heart of the book is the Too Strong Method, a clear path for recognizing the patterns that once protected us, reconnecting with ourselves, reframing the beliefs that keep those patterns alive, making different choices and integrating a healthier way of living, leading and relating.
Because our strength was never meant to be spent simply surviving our lives. When we stop using all of our strength to hold everything together, we free that strength for what we're actually here to do—to live, love, lead, create and contribute more fully.
When we change the way we carry our lives, we change what we're able to bring to the world.

Anette DeMattio MA
Anette DeMattio, MA is the founder of the Too Strong Movement, creator of the Too Strong Method, and the international award-winning author of Too Strong For Your Own Good.
She holds a master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and is a National Board Certified Executive Coach and National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. For more than two decades, she has coached leaders, caregivers, parents, entrepreneurs and high achievers through career transitions, burnout, chronic illness and life's most significant turning points.
A six-time cancer survivor, Anette's own healing journey led her to realize that many of the qualities our culture celebrates as strengths can become unconscious survival patterns that quietly disconnect us from ourselves.
That discovery became the Too Strong Method, a transformational framework that helps people recognize the hidden emotional, psychological and physiological cost of always being the strong one. Today, her work serves as the foundation for the Too Strong Movement, redefining strength for individuals, organizations and healthcare communities around the world.
