Description

What if the strength that helped you survive is now keeping you from fully living?

Every culture has its version of the strong one. The person who endures, provides, achieves, cares for others and keeps going without asking for much in return.

In Too Strong For Your Own Good, award-winning author and executive coach Anette DeMattio reveals what happens when the strengths that help us survive become the patterns we live by.

Rather than treating burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, over-responsibility and hyper-independence as separate problems, DeMattio shows how they can emerge from survival patterns that have become so automatic we mistake them for who we are.

The newly updated book brings the Too Strong Method™ to the forefront. Through Awaken, Alchemize and Ascend, readers learn to recognize their Too Strong Survival Patterns™, reconnect with body wisdom, self-trust and evolve from Survival Strong to Soul Strong.

Blending personal story, psychology, self-assessments and practical body-based practices, the book offers readers a new relationship with strength, one that no longer comes at their own expense.

You don't need to become less strong. You need to evolve your relationship with strength, so you can live, love and lead more fully without abandoning yourself in the process.

Updated version coming Fall 2026. New cover and updated interior featuring the expanded Too Strong Method™ framework. Final interior currently in production.

Anette DeMattio MA

Anette DeMattio, MA is the founder of the Too Strong Movement, creator of the Too Strong Method, and the international award-winning author of Too Strong For Your Own Good.

She holds a master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and is a National Board Certified Executive Coach and National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. For more than two decades, she has coached leaders, caregivers, parents, entrepreneurs and high achievers through career transitions, burnout, chronic illness and life's most significant turning points.

A six-time cancer survivor, Anette's own healing journey led her to realize that many of the qualities our culture celebrates as strengths can become unconscious survival patterns that quietly disconnect us from ourselves.

That discovery became the Too Strong Method, a transformational framework that helps people recognize the hidden emotional, psychological and physiological cost of always being the strong one. Today, her work serves as the foundation for the Too Strong Movement, redefining strength for individuals, organizations and healthcare communities around the world.
