How We’re Getting Ready for Frankfurt Book Fair 2021

With the 2021 Frankfurt Book Fair moving to a hybrid experience, it’s important to DropCap and the publishers that we represent to create an online experience that is just as meaningful and enriching as the real deal.

While the DropCap team will not be attending the Frankfurt Book Fair in person, the fair will take place from October 20-24 with a much smaller footprint. An estimated two-thirds of the number of exhibitors from 2019 will be in attendance, with some additional restrictions:

  • Two full days dedicated to professional attendees

  • General public admitted starting on Friday of the fair

  • On-floor social distancing between booths

It is safe to assume that many will be attending remotely, using virtual platforms to attend events and mingle with publishers and authors in the industry. We have also been working to create a virtual experience that can help those attending remotely to connect, learn, and discover.

Here is what you need to know about our virtual plans for the 2021 Frankfurt Book Fair:

Virtually Browse Titles:

Our virtual book fair booth will include all of our publishers’ new and noteworthy titles. These great books will also be “open to the public,” which means that anyone browsing will not need to make a DropCap account to view details and download the sell sheet.

Users who have a DropCap account will be able to access the PDF of the book to review: instant access to PDFs is part of what makes our virtual event the next-best-thing to being in person.

A Customized Experience:

All of the books in our virtual booth can be viewed by publisher or genre. We’ve also created genre-specific rights guides that can be downloaded and shared, that show our top picks across all of our publishers.

If you do create a DropCap account, our virtual booth will be customized by your preferred genres and language/country. Previous rights sold for each title are clearly visible, making it easy to check whether the book is available in the language of the potential licensee.

And finally, DropCap users will be able to “favorite” titles that they want to come back to later, or that don’t yet have a PDF available for review. They will be notified when the PDF is ready, making this a convenient way to revisit books you’ve been considering.

Meet With the Team:

Allison and Monica are thrilled to offer Zoom meetings for the rest of September and throughout October for our international co-agents and publishers. You can reach out to them and schedule an appointment on the following page.

We’re excited to virtually meet with you! We are also pleased that technology will bring some of the best parts of DropCap to our interested buyers, publishers, and readers. If you haven’t, take a minute to schedule time with the team and stay tuned for more updates as the Frankfurt Book Fair approaches!
