Lindsey McDivitt writes books for children including the picture book biography "A Plan for the People: Nelson Mandela’s Hope for his Nation." Her first fictional picture book, "Christmas Fairies for Ouma," is based on a true family story. She began writing after many years in health education working with stroke survivors. Also, I believe part of the "magical appeal" is that the book is based on a true story shared in the author's note--our small Christmas miracle! In addition, grandparents around the world have grandchildren living far from them. (i.e."long distance grandparents")
