
Dr. Lin Shanahan
Biography
Dr. Lin Shanahan was born in Pekan, Malaya (now Malaysia), during the Japanese occupation of World War II. Raised in a hardworking farming family, she developed an early passion for education and learning. She became one of the first women in Malaysia to earn a Diploma in Agriculture and later pursued extensive studies overseas.
Her academic journey took her to France, where she studied at institutions including the University of Grenoble and the Sorbonne, earning advanced degrees in languages and linguistics. Over the years she lived, worked, and travelled across Europe, the United States, and Asia before eventually settling in Australia.
Dr. Shanahan worked in agriculture, education, and language teaching, bringing together her love of science, culture, and learning. My Memories recounts the extraordinary experiences that shaped her life across multiple countries and generations.
