Description

In the 1990s, Anna and her husband escape the bustle of city life in New York City by moving to the country and buying a farm. Soon after, an abandoned newborn fawn is found nearby. The simple compassionate act of rescuing the young deer changes the course of their lives and of those around them just as the events of 9/11 unfold and cause many in their rural community to suffer deep, personal tragedy. The young deer, Blossom, grows and thrives with Anna’s care. Anna discovers a deep level of intelligence and intuition in the deer that defies the traditionally held beliefs of the divide between man and nature. This is the true story of an orphaned deer who shares love and compassion with her rescuer, a woman dealing with her own childhood trauma, and helps a town suffering from the events of 9/11 begin to heal.

As one of the first paramedics in Florida in the late 1970s and the only female, author Anna Carner Blangiforti was on the front lines during the tumultuous Cuban Mariel boatlift exodus and Miami riots. Her training served her again when her family moved from New York City to Tewksbury, NJ and Anna and her husband rescued the fawn Blossom. She now lives with her family in Virginia where she owns and runs a working farm and Bed and Breakfast.
