An unconventional story about Walter the chunky wombat who wakes up with a rumbling tummy in a strange world where it seems absolutely ordinary that animals wear fancy designer clothes and drive Italian mopeds, and no one raises an eyebrow if a goat runs his off-the-grid veggie business from a camper trailer.

After recovering from his first shock, Walter sets out on a journey in search of a decent burger. His adventure is full of surprises, strange encounters and important life lessons (for wombats and humans alike). We laid extra emphasis on courage, honesty and critical thinking and the key to Walter’s success is cooperation and open-mindedness – all crucial values when it comes to preparing someone for the challenges that lie ahead.

We filled Soft Opening with tons of tiny, amusing details, references to arts and pop culture and interesting backstories and comments to engage and entertain kids and adult readers alike.

To make it even more fun, we spiced it with invisible ink and it comes with a small UV flashlight that is indispensable for revealing the hidden stories and details printed with UV-ink that are normally invisible for the naked eye. These additions are intended for our adult readers. We also hid some instructions with UV-ink for accessing a playlist (basically the soundtrack of the book) which is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
