Biography

Known as “Dr. Dave” on campus and across the country, Dave Schramm is a professor and family life Extension specialist at Utah State University in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, where he teaches and researches happiness, marriage, and family relationships. He is the author of Happy Hacks: 101 Science-Backed Ways to Boost Happiness, Reduce Stress, and Build a More Meaningful Life, along with the spinoff editions Happy Hacks for Moms and Happy Hacks for Teachers, which translate decades of well-being research into simple, doable strategies for everyday life. He also developed the Road to Happiness and Meaning curriculum and teaches the wildly popular “Happy Class” at USU, where students learn the science of building a flourishing life.

From British Columbia to Beijing, China, and from St. Louis to San Diego, Dr. Dave has given over 600 presentations and classes to a wide variety of audiences, including the United Nations and a TEDx talk in Florida. He also co-hosts the Stronger Marriage Connection podcast, where he and Dr. Liz Hale share research-based insights to help couples build stronger, happier relationships.

He married his high school sweetheart Jamie, they have four children, love being grandparents, he might have a slight addiction to peanut M&Ms, and the Schramm fam lives in North Logan, Utah.
