Arnold Gilberg MD

Biography

Arnold Gilbert, Md, PhD, earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and his medical degree from the University of Illinois before interning at Los Angeles General Medical Center. He completed his psychiatric training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he served as chief resident, and holds a doctorate in psychoanalysis from the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute. Notably, Dr. Gilberg is the last living practitioner trained by Franz Alexander, MD, a distinguished colleague of Sigmund Freud.

Dr. Gilberg is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the former clinical chief of psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and an honorary associate clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. He served for ten years under three California governors on the state medical board for LA County, and has treated thousands of patients in his Los Angeles–based practice.

Today, he lives with his wife in Los Angeles, where he continues to see patients on a regular basis.
