Description

Two brothers, a hidden secret, and an adventure of a lifetime.

On the pirate island of Bosch, almost eleven-year-old twins Kik and Mac are facing a storm of changes. With a father from Edo and a Bosch mother, the brothers navigate the challenges of identity, friendship, and family in their own unique ways.

Mac, daring and mischievous, finds himself in a whirlwind of trouble as he strives to impress new friends. Meanwhile, Kik, quiet and observant, grapples with his heritage and a heartfelt secret he's not ready to share.

When a ball thrown in anger fractures a family heirloom, a hidden piece of a pirate treasure map emerges, setting them on a quest that will shake up their relationship and reshape their understanding of family.

A Pirates' Pact is a tale of friendship, self-discovery, and the enduring strength of family ties. Will Kik's and Mac's pact withstand the challenges ahead? Embark on this middle grade adventure where bonds are forged, secrets are unveiled, and treasures go beyond gold and jewels.

“Really enjoyed this book! It's an adventure story for the ages — mystery and intrigue, with a dose of brotherly love (and conflict, too). I could see this becoming a Kik and Mac series!”
— Emily Auerswald, Upper School Librarian, Greenwich Country Day School

"A Pirates' Pact is Branson's fifth book about New Earth, but it's the first book specifically aimed at middle graders. It allows the reader a peek into the mischievous world of ten-year-old twins [and] the complicated bonds between brothers. It's a coming of age adventure, a treasure hunt almost on a par with The Goonies."
— Sally Altass, Reedsy Reviewer

"Branson casts her storyline to new readers as she dives deep into a weekend with the spotlight on Kat Wallace's twin boys. Having started to sail apart, Kik and Mac must work together to discover, through fights, foes, and hidden secrets, that the biggest treasure they can find is the friendship they have always had with each other. Whatever else Bosch is hiding comes in second to the affirmation of two brothers, past and present, who will always make sure the other half gets his due share."
— Iris Hermann, Freelance editor

"The story is captivating and shows the bonds twins have. I was curious to see if they would find the treasure. This book kept twisting and turning, and I didn't expect that pirates were still around."
— Sanjay, 12

“A Pirates' Pact is an enchanting story filled with good description that makes you feel like you are actually in the story. After I started the first page I couldn't put it down.”<...
