Gail Vida Hamburg

Gail Vida Hamburg is a laureled novelist, screenwriter, and journalist. Her first novel, The Edge of the World (Mirare Press, 2007) was recognized by the Graham Greene Festival, Bertrand Russell’s The Spokesman, and the 2008 James Fenimore Cooper Prize by the American Society of Historians. It is a frequent text in university creative writing, post-colonial, and war studies programs in the U.S and Asia. Her second novel, Liberty Landing (Mirare Press, 2018) about the American Experiment and Experience was a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction, recognized at the Palestine Book Awards, and nominated for the 2018 Dayton Literary International Peace Prize. Her third book, Small Worlds (Mirare Press, 2025), is a collection of fast and microfiction. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bennington College, Vermont. She lives in Southern California.
