Description

REALLY? asks the simplest questions—and follows them into the deepest corners of love, consciousness, desire, and existence.

Across thirty-seven poems, Kim Vu moves freely from playful philosophical puzzles to sensual declarations of love, from quiet encounters with rain, clouds, and waves to journeys through Vietnam and far beyond. The everyday becomes a doorway into larger questions: What is the psyche? What survives a fleeting moment? Can love overcome distance, age, sorrow, and time?

Drawing inspiration from Zen thought, philosophical inquiry, memory, travel, and an unabashed delight in romantic love, Vu writes with a directness that can be tender one moment, mischievous the next. Aging becomes something to laugh about; desire remains vibrantly alive; nature mirrors the heart; and even the most serious questions invite another question: Really?

Warm, provocative, humorous, and contemplative, REALLY? is a celebration of curiosity and of the enduring human impulse to love, wonder, question, and remain fully alive.

Kim Vu

Kim Vu is a poet, writer, translator, artist, and researcher whose work ranges across poetry, short prose, philosophy, and Buddhist studies. He has authored more than twenty works in English and Vietnamese and has translated literary works, including poetry by major Vietnamese writers. A former architect and interpreter, Vu also creates watercolor paintings and video works, bringing a multidisciplinary sensibility to his writing. His poetry frequently explores love, consciousness, Zen and philosophical thought, aging, beauty, travel, and the transience of experience. His recent English-language collection Revelation was published in 2026, followed by REALLY?, a collection in which philosophical questioning meets romance, humor, sensuality, and reflections inspired in part by Zen traditions and classical Chinese thought.
