Poison
by Gary Ball
"A real page turner that held me in its grip from the very first sentence." -Tom Robotham, award-winning writer
". . . a compelling read, with gripping writing and themes of loss and revenge." -Miranda Faye Dillon, award-winning author of The Unshatterables
English professor Vere Larson and his family are living an idyllic life in a quiet college town when a baseball injury interrupts the promising sports career of his son, Chris. A doctor prescribes pain-killing drugs that subtly but quickly ensnare Chris in addiction, leading him to street drugs and the horrors that hard drugs so often create.
As the harm to his family escalates, Vere seeks revenge on the drug dealers who have destroyed his family's happiness. His violently effective vigilante actions lead to dangerous confrontations with corrupt police and a ruthless drug cartel.
Vere's story should resonate with anyone whose life has been affected by drug addiction or has ever wished they could strike back at the heartless drug dealers pouring their poison onto our streets.

Review
"A real page turner that held me in its grip from the very first sentence." -Tom Robotham, award-winning writer and adjunct professor of literature at Old Dominion University
"This timely and emotional story is a compelling read, with gripping writing and themes of loss and revenge." -Miranda Faye Dillon, award-winning author of The Unshatterables
"Poison is not a book you should read; it is a book you must read. Gary Ball unabashedly tackles a harrowing subject that affects us all, either as victim, perpetrator, or wounded witness. The satisfaction that Ball leaves us with is cathartic. I wholeheartedly endorse Poison." -Brandon Currence, author of The Bank, the third book in the Turtle on a Fence Post series
"Poison dramatizes the all-too-familiar tragedy of a family's destruction as a teenager is entrapped in the downward spiral of drug abuse. Gary Ball brings the reader from a youth's needless death to the consequences of a father's attempts to cope with his grief." -Ray Collins, author of The General's Briefcase, Motive for Murder, and Setup
