Description

A Fable of Liberty Lost and Found

A cautionary tale of hope inspired by Thomas Paine

A satiric parable about what happens in any society where the people lose a global sense of our natural oneness .Inspired by Thomas Paine's original fable in Common Sense, the novella offers playful insights for our world today.

Paine opened Common Sense with a short parable about a remote startup community learning to govern itself , His allegory explains the major forms government --- anarchy, democracy republic, monarchy, tyranny - -- and tells how they arise. Paine's fable set the table for urging 18th century Americans colonists to reject a distant king and instead establish the world's first modern democratic republic.

Today in our 21st century, Judah Freed expands on Paine's fable by adapting U.S. news trends to ridicule tyrants and wannabe kings anywhere on earth. He tell a universal story about how we humans tend to govern ourselves,

Part I tells how that enlightened island society migrates from self-governing anarchy into a genuine direct democracy,.which chooses to become a representative republic, which turns corrupt, falls prey to autocracy, and suffers under tyranny before a final collapse. The storyline centers on one family across the centuries; their misadventures are absurd and tragic.

Part II offers a hopeful alternative ending. Just as a lying bully seizes power, the people awaken into mindful self rule, They reject the tyrant and outgrow any need for kings. The story offers a vision of an enlightened democratic society. Their lessons in sensible freedom give us reasons for hope. In these scary times that try our soul.

A Fable of Liberty Lost and Found is a stand-alone novella and a companion book to Making Global Sense.

SAMPLE:

LET US IMAGINE a small group of brave humans who settle on a large, remote and unoccupied island paradise surrounded by a vast ocean. They can build their world anew.

Let us imagine all the settlers are enlightened, each attuned to the cosmos. Each has a global sense of our universal oneness. Since all that exists is vibrating light in its varied forms, all are equal, so each person feels inner peace and love for themselves, for other settlers and the earth. They all live creatively free together in peace.

In this way, honoring mindfulness and personal sovereignty, the island community balances freedom and responsibility. Their utopian anarchy lasts as long as people behave themselves.
