Frank C. Pao

Frank C. Pao is an energy innovator and renewable technology entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience in semiconductor and solar technologies. After beginning his career at IBM in semiconductor engineering, he became a pioneer in building-integrated solar systems and hybrid photovoltaic-thermal technologies.

He served as Chairman and CEO of Atlantis Energy Systems and later founded the Sustainable Product Development Lab, where he continued developing advanced solar and energy-harvesting technologies. His work helped advance Building Integrated Photovoltaic Thermal (BIPVT) systems, earning industry recognition including Frost & Sullivan’s BIPV Niche Player of the Year award.

Pao has also collaborated with academic institutions such as Columbia University and has co-authored research on solar thermal systems. Through his writing and innovation, he advocates for practical pathways to achieve net-zero energy and address global climate change.
