Description

What remains of us after love has wounded, transformed, and finally redeemed us?

In Remnants of Me, Ali Z gathers a lifetime of longing into an intimate collection of poems and letters exploring love in all its contradictions: devotion and desire, loneliness and belonging, betrayal and forgiveness, mortality and faith.

Written across years of personal upheaval—and with much of the collection inspired by the woman he ultimately came to call his wife—these deeply confessional pieces move from the deserts of solitude to galaxies of possibility, from the anguish of broken trust to the discovery of a love that feels both destined and sacred.

Drawing upon Lebanese heritage, Islamic spirituality, cosmic imagery, and an intensely personal search for meaning, Ali Z confronts the questions that endure long after relationships change: How deeply can we love? What does betrayal leave behind? Can faith heal what time cannot? And is it ever too late to find the person who finally feels like home?

Remnants of Me is a meditation on the scars we carry—and the love that can give them meaning.

Ali Z is a Lebanese American writer raised in Dearborn, Michigan, whose work explores love, faith, betrayal, identity, mortality, and the search for meaning. An introspective and existential writer, he draws upon a lifetime of relationships and personal experience as well as his Lebanese heritage and Islamic faith. Remnants of Me, his first published collection, brings together poems and letters accumulated over many years alongside work inspired by meeting his wife, Diala, later in life. Through romantic, philosophical, spiritual, and often cosmic imagery, Ali examines both the wounds and the redemptive possibilities of human connection, writing for readers who believe that love can remain mysterious—and transformative—at any age.
