Description

Words for believing in yourself are the stars of this sweet picture book that empowers children of all abilities and backgrounds to not only believe in themselves but to be strong and resilient in the pursuit of their dreams. A teacher, a scientist or an activist - could this be you? Through lyrical rhymes and vibrant illustrations, This Could Be You says yes, it very well could be.

This Could Be You by Cindy Williams Schrauben will sit comfortably on your shelf alongside other empowering books such as I Promise (by LeBron James) and I Can Do Hard Things (by Gabi Garcia). The full-color jacket is a reversible, 22 x 36 poster perfect for inspiring kids in the classroom and home with positive messages!

This book comes with a free Reader’s Guide for children. The guide contains interactive lesson plans that encourage children to adopt a growth mindset over a fixed one. One activity asks children to rewrite fixed mindset statements like “This is too hard!” and turn them into something positive. The guide is available for free download from the publisher website.

Review
"What would happen if, instead of thinking "I can't" all the time, children began to consistently think "I can"? This Could Be You by Cindy Williams Schrauben gives power to children through different scenarios in which they can do or be whoever they want. From composing music to supporting and caring for others, this sweet book shows children that if they put their minds to something, they can do great things. With lyrical writing and different characters featured on each page, This Could Be You is a book that every child and parent should pick up and read together.

This Could Be You: Be Brave! Be True! Believe! Be You! by Cindy Williams Schrauben is an empowering children's picture book with stunning illustrations by Julia Seal. I loved that there was no true main character in this book; each page featured different children and families doing various things. This book is very interactive, with questions at the beginning and end for children and their families as well, to think about before, during, and after they read the book. Having questions like this doesn't work for every book, but I appreciate the fact that they were included in this one; it gives children something to think about, and they can talk with their parents about how they feel and what this book might make them want to try. This Could Be You by Cindy Williams Schrauben was truly an amazing read, and I would recommend it to all families who enjoy sitting down and reading books together."

"Wow!

What an accomplishment! First, it is beautifully produced! Fun yet elegant. Sumptuous. The idea of a poster on the back of the dust jacket is brilliant. (My book out in October will have a large tear-out fold-out poster, but this is a cool solution.) And the mirror is also great - makes the book more interactive.

I do NOT read a lot of "motivational" children's books, but yours seems right on target. Love the diversity and lively art, in addition to the clever accessible text and the ideas for what a child can dream of being. I also think that both parents and teachers - any caregivers for children - will find the front and back matter very helpful.

Congratulations! You should be very proud!"

Cindy Williams Schrauben

Cindy Williams Schrauben lives in Michigan where she writes books for kids that range from the truly serious to the seriously silly. Before embarking on this path, Cindy held positions as a teacher, administrator, and more. She loves sharing the message that ‘It’s never too late to dream!’ When not writing, working with other authors, or honing her craft, Cindy might be found dissecting her grandsons’ shenanigans for story ideas, reading on the floor in the bookstore, or eating ice cream…ideally all at once.
