Navy's world is in perpetual flux, as is her sense of self -- a state she has seemingly accepted, in order to find success as an actor and model in Los Angeles. Unable to predict what or when her next gig will be (and frequently wondering if she has worked her last), she is mired in ephemera. At the peak of her beauty and wit, she is nonetheless exhausted; able to travel globally (at the whims of her employers), she nonetheless finds the most solace in tiny, enclosed spaces.

Awash in a world of contradictions, painfully aware of the cultural baggage toted by each new person, "Navy's Prism" conveys intersectional trauma, through one physically and emotionally grueling commercial shoot in Bangkok. But though Navy's perspective is principal, Wooi also delivers a memorable cast of very disparate personalities, whose opinions of each other seldom line up. In a narrative of shorthand and signifiers, it is up to the reader to stand back and interpret the value of Navy's many colors.
