Yuriy Gurovich

Yuriy Gurovich, Ph.D., grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he earned a doctorate in physics-acoustics and pursued a scientific career before moving to the United States in 1993. He later led an applied acoustics group at a consulting company in Arlington, Virginia, publishing dozens of scientific articles, conference papers, and technical reports. After retiring from science, he turned to a longstanding interest in literature, studying storytelling and creative writing, including on-line courses at Wesleyan University. His previous fiction includes Metamorphoses of Heart and Mind, published in Russian under the pen name Yuliy Salomon. He also produced the first English translation of Scrambled Boots, a little-known children’s story handwritten and illustrated by Anton Chekhov. Gurovich brings his scientific curiosity, international experience, historical interests, and Russian literary heritage to his new metafiction novel.
