Biography
Bill Savage is the author of "To the Mill and Back," a novel set in 1970s America that has a universal appeal for anyone who ever had a job as a teenager, or worked with some interesting characters.
"I believe this book will be interesting to anyone who has worked in a factory or, in this case, a textile mill," he said.
"I am a fairly regular visitor to the U.K., and I have been to cities such as Manchester, which once relied heavily on such mills for the employment of their residents and their economic health," he said. "In Manchester, or in Liverpool, as in many parts of the U.S., there are former mills that have been repurposed as apartments, government buildings, etc. (See video)."
"Almost from the time I wrote it, I thought this book would be relevant to those types of places, all over the world."

I had no idea what to expect when I opened this book. I was prepared not to get past the first chapter. Instead, I didn't put it down until the final word. What I found was an entirely relatable book that was part coming of age, part expose on a transitional segment of Americana.
