Barbara Jenkins

BARBARA JENKINS is the co-author of The Walk West (William Morrow), a New York Times bestseller and permanent title in the White House Library. Inspired by Jenkins’ three year, 3,000 mile walk across America with her former husband, The Walk West has sold over 12 million copies and was named one of the most influential books on American culture in the last 100 years. Their ambitious trek was featured on the cover of National Geographic Magazine (August 1979).

Jenkins also co-authored the The Road Unseen (Fawcett) which received The Gold Medallion Book Award. Her other works include I Once Knew a Woman and Wit and Wisdom for Women. She has been featured on numerous news and media outlets, including Good Morning America, Focus on the Family, Reader’s Digest, and others.

Now a renowned speaker, Jenkins travels here and abroad to share her story with others. She has also served as a Commissioner for two Tennessee Governors, Board Chair for Benton Hall Academy, and President of the Tennessee Women’s Forum. She is Chair Emeritus of The Green Electric Company and served as a Board member for Coaching; Life Matters.
